Kurt Sorensen

Solo Exhibition
19 Sep 2012 - 14 Oct 2012

"Kurt Sorensen's work investigates the classic mystery genre of the Australian landscape. Often noted as one of the most beautiful and scenic countries in the world, the reality of the harsh and treacherous nature of the Australian landscape is reflected through these images. Ill-equipped and unknowledgeable; many an early settler fell victim to the unforgiving conditions.

Sorensens's research takes him to these sites where drama and peril have taken place. He uses perfectly timed natural lighting to capture the eerie sense of beauty and tragedy that co-exist in the isolated terrain. We are reminded of the force of nature, and the effects that the landscape can have upon the humans who attempt to conquer it. Sorensen's cinematic style references the potential for drama."
