Solo Exhibition
16 Sep 2009 - 4 Oct 2009

Through the dramatic mist filled mountains of the Tasmanian wilderness, the golden haze of countryside afternoons and the stormy seascapes on the south coast of New South Wales, Max Linegar achieves a timeless sense of place and atmosphere using charcoal, pastel and on gesso primed paper. For this recent series Linegar has also returned to the dark and mysterious inner city scenes of Sydney's old razorland district - a popular theme in earlier works - where threatening skies loom over vacant streets as day turns into night. A considered and perceptive artist, Linegar has achieved significant heights throughout his career. He has exhibited in the prestigious Dobell Prize for Drawing, Art Gallery of NSW, 2001 and 2004, as well as the highly coveted Kedumba Art Prize, 2002.
