16 Sep 2009 - 4 Oct 2009

Matthew Rogers' new series images the abstracted anonymous crowd. Rogers' contemporary paintings make connections between reality and fantasy, photography and painting, and more broadly the painted canvas and the screen. Borrowing from the utopian mark making of abstract expressionism,
his figuration approaches the stranger with tenderness and intimacy. He finds visual poetry on the footpath. He is a National Art School gradutate of Fine
Arts and has been exhibiting paintings and works on paper since 1996.
