Robert Clinch possesses the rare ability to create detailed, realist imagery, made captivating by the originality of his vision. Following his Victorian touring exhibition, Urban Myths, his exhibition at Dickerson Gallery Melbourne Urban Myths and Legends, draws again from the city environment. He finds romance and a hint of theatrical drama in the man-made forms of urban life. The objects of his affection are the symmetry and line of city architecture, the rhythm of skylines that juxtapose modern skyscrapers with structures of bygone eras, the brickwork along dingy laneways, and the façades of derelict warehouses and apartment blocks.
