Since Ian Bracegirdle’s last exhibition in 2006 there’s been a seismic shift in the zeitgeist.  We are all now conscious of the fact that the globe’s climate is changing.  Bracegirdle’s new work shows how this awareness impacts not just on our daily behaviour, but also on the way we see the world.  Water plays a more critical role than before: not simply in its presence but also in its absence, and in the very liquidity the images. There’s a flow both in the work itself and in the painter’s emotional response to the landscapes he imagines.
