Born in Tasmania, Lockhart has exhibited extensively both in Australia and internationally.  His delicate observations of light, shadow, colour and composition are a counterpoint to today's hectic pace.  Using a  technique which exudes a sense of timelessness, he captures the essence of a subject, be it a still life, a seascape, a figure or a sketch.
