Welsh born Derry Messum derives pleasure from materials discarded by contemporary society and can be found scouring the beach and clearing sales for recycled materials to include in his sculptures. These mixed media works include metals, wood, acrylic paint and ceramic.  Many are assembled like pictures in deep and often intricate frames that provide compositional as well as conceptual strength.
